“You’ll leave with a new respect for how a golf course can live as one with nature.”

Design

PAR

Falmouth Country Club has 27 holes. Osprey is the 18 hole “championship” course. Talon is a par 37 nine holer.

From the moment you drive onto the property, you’ll notice how flat the course is.

There is an impressive commitment to nature: tons of birdhouses, osprey nests, natural streams, ponds throughout.

FCC is not a course where some designer came in and moved a bunch of dirt around to create an artificial environment. It is what it is and serves an important role among the variety of course options on the Cape.

Nature elements create nice hazards: high grasses, small ponds, streams.

The bunkers have a mostly natural, rough edge that allow them to feel complementary and not like forced additions.

There are certainly better, more challenging public course options on the Cape, but FCC may be one of the most playable for golfers of all ages and abilities.

Playability

EAGLE

This is one of the most playable courses on the Cape.

Very flat, making it an easy walk for seniors and youth players.

Medium-sized, nice rolling greens will still test the shot-making of players of all levels.

Views

PAR

There are not sweeping vistas or ocean views, but we challenge you to pay attention to the nature.

The natural Cape Cod habitats will undoubtedly lead to wildlife sightings (in addition to lots of birdies and eagles, of course) throughout the course.

Vibe

PAR

No frills, laid back, easy going vibe.

It is great to see younger (and older) golfers spending the day trying to get as many holes in as possible.

Condition

PAR

We last played in June when almost all courses were in great shape and FCC exceeded our expectations.

There were a few tough spots in the fairways, but the greens and bunkers were in great shape.

Practice Areas

BIRDIE

Nice, flat, simple range with mats and some grass hitting areas.

19th Hole

BOGEY

Simple bar in a simple clubhouse.

Logo

BOGEY

We are certainly partial to bird-centric logos, but this feels a bit dated and clip-arty.

We think a more modern, creative logo featuring the unique nautical bell, the osprey nest, or even one of the many birdhouses would make a great upgrade.

Memorability

BOGEY

Too many courses are trying to up their difficulty levels to get love from the golf community, but there is a need to make golf accessible to younger and older golfers. FCC fills this need nicely.

There are few memorable holes, but hopefully you leave with a respect for how a golf course can live as one with nature.
