The Cape Cod Golf Guys present:

BIRD FEST IV:

Gulliver and Reggie’s Family Reunion

———

Bird Fest is back!

Ever since our first trip to the Royal & Ancient Chappaquiddick Links, we’ve been gushing about our love for this place: the vibe, the views, the lore, the ferries, the vans, Brad, Chris, Sir Reginald, and of course… golf in its purest form…

So, we hatched a plan!

Let’s give our fellow Cape Cod Golf Guys and Gals an excuse to experience the magic of this place for themselves.

If you fancy a warm-up round, The Opener, will be held the day prior at a little course down the road called Vineyard Golf Club. And this year, we’re adding a third event, Mink-Mosa, for the day after at Mink Meadows.

Note: Registration for one event does not guarantee a spot in the other, but if you get a spot, you are welcome to register any or all of the events: Bird Fest IV, The Opener, or Mink-Mosa.

BIRD FEST IV
$175.00

Royal & Ancient Chappaquiddick Links

9-ish to 3-ish

$175 per player entry includes: multiple trips around the 9-hole course, pizza lunch, tee shirt, and prizes

The Tournament Format:

Play as many nine-hole rounds as you desire between 9am-2pm!

Record your score on each hole, but only submit your best score on each of the nine holes. (For example, if you play Hole #1 four times and score: 3, 2, 3, 4: then your score for hole #1 would be a 2.)

Note: You must play the holes in order. So, if you’ve struggled on hole # 9 all day, you can’t just play #9 over and over until you birdie it… You can play it again, but you need to play another full round to do so…

Bogey maximum.

At 2pm, you’ll submit your best 9 hole score. The top 3 players (and ties) will then compete in a sudden-death playoff to determine a champion!

There will be special prizes for birdies, eagles, and the biggest birds of them all: albatross hole-in-ones. (after all, this is BIRD FEST!)

The Logistics:

It’s not easy to get here. But, the journey is an essential part of the experience! We’re going to try to break it down step-by-step below:

Step 1: Get to the Vineyard.

This time of year, the Steamship Authority runs regularly from Woods Hole to Oak Bluffs in the Vineyard.

If you plan on making the trip the day of the event, we recommend getting one of the first 3 ferries (in red below.) Book here: https://www.steamshipauthority.com

Step 2: Get to the Chappaquidick Ferry in Edgartown.

The Chappy ferry is located at 53 Dock Street in Edgartown.

Grab a taxi / ride share, to the Chappy Ferry. Remember, this is not New York City. Give yourself ample time to get a ride.

If you took a car, it’s about a ~20 minute drive from Oak Bluffs to the Chappy Ferry and there’s often a substantial wait to get a car across. We recommend parking in Edgartown and walking onto the Chappy Ferry.

The ferry runs continuously and the ride is a short one: only 527 feet! More info here: chappyferry.com

Step 3: Get from the Chappy Ferry to the RACL Course!

Pick up times at the ferry landing will be between 8:30 and 10:00.

The Chappy vehicles will shuttle back and forth between these times. Please be patient though, as the vehicles are small so we’ll need multiple trips…

Alternatively, you could wait in line to get a car across or take a bike (but it is tricky with golf clubs!)

Step 4: Play BIRD FEST!

You can start playing whenever you get to the course!

Pizza and drinks will be delivered around 11:30.

Step 5: Get home.

We’ll shuttle people back to the Chappy Ferry between 3-4.
